High school football: Where the Top 100 players in the Class of 2024 play

The big four states of Texas, Georgia, Florida and California lead the way when it comes to the 247Sports composite rankings of the top 100 high school football players in the Class of 2024.

Sixty-five players come from that quartet of states, led by Texas with 18. Notables from the Lone Star State include five-stars Colin Simmons of Duncanville, Micah Hudson of Lake Belton (Temple), Kobe Black of Connally (Waco) and DJ Lagway of Willis.

Of Georgia's 17 top 100 players, six are five-stars led by Mike Matthews of Parkview (Lilburn), KJ Bolden and Eddrick Houston of Buford,  Sammy Brown of Jefferson, Landen Thomas of Colquitt County (Moultrie) and Kameron Davis of Dougherty (Albany).

Florida had the most five-star players — Jeremiah Smith and Joshisa Trader of Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood), Ellis Robinson IV, David Stone and Jerrick Gibson of IMG Academy (Bradenton), T.J. Capers of Columbus (Miami) and Charles Lester III of Riverview (Sarasota) — from their 16 ranked players.

And California was the only other state with more than five five-star players among their 14 selections. Last year's MaxPreps National Champs, St. John Bosco (Bellflower), is tied with Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) with the third-most with three players featured — Peyton Woodyard, Marcelles Williams and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) has the second-most with four — Brandon Baker, Elijah Brown, Aydin Breland and DeAndre Carter.
